<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Calibri">It is with regret that I inform you that former Metro Women’s Soccer League Coordinator John Jukes has died. No word yet on the cause of death or details of a funeral.</font></p>
<p><o:p><font face="Calibri"> </font></o:p></p>
<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Calibri">John, in my opinion, could be considered a friend of referees. Although not a referee himself, he understood the trials and tribulations we go through and always supported referees in his dealings with teams and players while working for the Metro Women’s Soccer League. He was a constant fixture at Vancouver Area meetings, always providing information about the league and perhaps his attendance led to his understanding and support of the refereeing profession. John always had a positive demeanour and was always willing to talk with referees.</font></p>

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Calibri">Obviously, our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.</font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify" class="MsoNormal"><font face="Times New Roman">Several members were present at this year’s National “In-Service” Provincial clinic held in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Toronto</st1:place></st1:city> by the CSA. This year’s session was held over the Victoria Day weekend.</font></p>

To be able to attend the clinic, participants must have passed an online exam, had the requisite number of assessments and taken and passed the fitness test held in their respective province. </font></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This year&#8217;s Spring Council/Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday, May 8th in Victoria. Call to order is 930am. A meeting venue is to be announced in due course. The annual Jack Tinnion Memorial Shield match featuring members in the 604 area code vs 250 area code members will be held after the meeting. A light lunch will be provided for all meeting attendees.</p>
<p>The meeting is open to all members of the Referees Association. All participants are asked to RSVP to Provincial Secretary Richard Brownie (<a href="mailto:guild_ref@hotmail.com">guild_ref@hotmail.com</a>) so that numbers for lunch can be arranged.</p>
<p>The purpose of the meeting is as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>To continue focus on the RA&#8217;s Business Plan </li>
<li>To approve election of officers (President, Secretary- both 2 year terms)</li>
<li>To ratify Area Association-appointed Directors (Fraser Valley, Van. Area, Interior)</li>
<li>To approve a budget for the coming 2010-2011 fiscal year</li>
<li>To meet and re-acquaint with fellow referee colleagues</li>
</ul>
<p>A Brainstorming session is being developed of which the topic will be announced shortly.</p>
