Equipment
Back in the early part of this century the choice a referee had with regard to equipment was limited: a blazer and pants. This was later changed to black shorts and jersey for most leagues. Nowadays, referees have many different versions of uniform to choose from. The simple black short-sleeve jersey is still the most common version, but a rainbow of colours await you (and your pocketbook!)
Remember that the official policy of the Canadian Soccer Association is that referees and assistants should all wear the same colour, which is black, unless there is a conflict with one of the other four colours on the field.
